Island Wellserver to intervene

The Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) has given their consent for "Island Wellserver" to carry out intervention work at Statoil fields Yttergryta and Snøhvit.

"Island Wellserver" is a purpose built vessel for riserless subsea well interventions.

The vessel have carried out light intervention operations in the North Sea and Norwegian Sea previously, but this will be the first time the vessel performs intervention in the Barents Sea, where Snøhvit is located.

The intervention operations will start this September and go on until the end of 2011, the PSA reports.
