Contract extension for West Hercules

Husky Oil China has granted a six month contract extension for Seadrill's semi "West Hercules". The extension is worth around NOK 550 million.

This means that the rig will operate offshore China until May 2012, and the contract extension also include an option on another six months Seadrill reports in a stock exchange release.

We are pleased to add further earning visibility for our ultra-deepwater rig fleet at what we believe is competitive terms and conditions given the current market sentiment. Our strong contract backlog gives us a unique opportunity to focus our efforts on safety and operational excellence, says Seadrill Management CEO Alf C Thorkildsen.
