James Bond at ONS?The Norwegian Police Security Service (PST) reports that the Offshore Northern Seas (ONS) conference has been a venue for industrial espionage. - Many companies don't now they are spied upon, says PST.
ONS is held in Stavanger every other year, and the next conference will take place in the last week of August. According to head of communication at PST, the conference is a venue for industrial espionage. - Many other governments are interested in the technology we have. They might be here trying to get their hand on the technology, or to learn. A place like ONS is an arena for these people to get to know other people and build relationships they hope to use later, says Hugubakken. The spies often pretend to be journalists or potential buyers. John Are Rørtveit, head of marketing and information at ONS, says that they have never heard about any espionage attempts at ONS. - We haven't heard anything about this from exhibitors or visitors, Rørtveit tells Norwegian broadcasters NRK.
