Wärtsilä design gone with the windThe German company RWE Innogy has hired Wärtsila to design a jack-up crane vessel for constructing offshore windmill farms. It is the RWE subsidiary, RWE Innogy, which works with renewable energy that has fallen for the Wärtsila concept for constructing windmill farms offshore. The design will be used in the making of two vessels which will be built by Daewoo Shipbuilding in Korea. The vessels will be ready in 2011. The vessels are according to Wärtsilä well equipped and designed for use in Northern European waters. - Tailored specifically for year-round construction of offshore wind farms, the jack-up crane vessel is designed to remain operational under harsh Northern European sea and wind conditions, a press release from Wärtsilä states. The vessels will be used in constructing the planned windmill farms North Sea East, Innogy North Sea and Gwynt Mor. |
