No one wants the Skeie rigsNorwegian Skeie Drilling has trouble renting out their three new drilling rigs being constructed in Singapore. The drilling company based in Kristiansand has trouble renting out the three new rigs they are building at the Keppel shipyard in Singapore. Even though the prices are lower than ever, no one wants the rigs, this the Norwegian newspaper Dagens Næringsliv states. - These are extreme rigs that are built after Norwegian standards and conditions. Therefore they can also be used other places in than the North Sea, CEO of Skeie Rig management, Stein Eggan says to the Norwegian newspaper. One and a half years ago the company offered the rigs to a cost of three million Norwegian kroner. Now they have lowered the price to less than two million kroner per day. This is according to Dagens Næringsliv just half a million kroner more than break even. - We have built the rigs on speculation, without any contracts. But we are hoping for the best. The oil companies have used the financial crisis for all it is worth to put pressure on the vendors. But now, we hope someone wants to hire the jack-up rigs, Eggan says.
